Announcing a public holiday on the death of Nusrat Bhutto , the widow of former prime minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, was one of the best chores that the government had done.

Political parties are always generous in announcing public holidays in the country. They don’t think how much the masses suffer because of such holidays. Our business and trade is suffered due to this.

This non-serious attitude on the part of the government  might be look as  attractive, but it is really bad for our economy. The government cannot get rid of poverty and unemployment if it continues its current policies.

Though, I do understand the government’s point of assessment. No doubt the former first lady was a strong icon of politics and a good public figure. Her family’s sacrifices for Pakistan’s cause were uncountable and her role was contributory.

She extended support to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and her posture against military dictatorship set the tone for what was to follow during subsequent years. If anyone justified a national holiday, it would be the prior first lady.

Recently, the government has decided to confer the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Order of Excellence) on Nusrat Bhutto posthumously . The president’s spokesperson said the title “Mother of Democracy” has also been awarded to her. Does she deserve it?.

There seems to be an obsessive need for some people to let others know the degree of their inspiration regarding to make prosperous Pakistan and the country’s dependency on them. Maybe that is the reason behind so many public holidays which are utmost inadequate.
